Preventive Care
Short Film
Logline: When a confident lawyer relies on hypnosis to quit smoking, he experiences some unusual side effects.
Description: Preventive Care is a short horror film shot in Scranton and Bristol, Pennsylvania.
My Role: Director, Producer, Screenwriter, Casting
Collaboration: I worked with two talented visionaries to define this film’s look and feel. John-Michael Occhipinti was my director of photography (DP) for the Scranton shots, while Patrick Flanigan served as my second camera operator for the Bristol shots and primary video editor. Since a film project is highly collaborative, I find it beneficial to embrace that group dynamic and bring out the best in each crew member so they can be proud of their contribution.
Casting: Choosing the right talent to portray each character is no easy task. It requires patience and respect for the craft and the actor performing it. I like actors to have the freedom to interpret a character as they envisioned when they read the script. So, before filming, I like to get to know the actor through a series of informal interviews to get a better perspective on their personality and approach.
