Logline: When a confident lawyer relies on hypnosis to quit smoking, he experiences some unusual side effects.
Description: Preventive Care is a short horror film shot in Scranton and Bristol, Pennsylvania.
My Role: Director, Producer, Screenwriter, Casting
Collaboration: I worked with two talented visionaries to define this film’s look and feel. John-Michael Occhipinti was my director of photography (DP) for the Scranton shots, while Patrick Flanigan served as my second camera operator for the Bristol shots and primary video editor. Since a film project is highly collaborative, I find embracing that group dynamic beneficial and bringing out the best in each crew member so they can be proud of their contribution.
Approach: Choosing the right talent to portray each character is no easy task. It requires patience and respect for the craft and the actor performing it. I like actors to feel free to interpret a character as they envision when they read a script. So, I enjoy getting to know the individual playing the part before filming. That way, I can better understand their unique approach and personality to direct them more effectively.
Cast & Crew: I had the privilege of working with incredibly talented people, including actors Tom Delillo, Greta Volkova, Gael Showers, Roja Kumar, Nicholas Loran, and crewmates Miranda LaSota (makeup) and Jason Belack (sound).
