Spilled Ink
Poetry Book
Description: Spilled Ink is my first endeavor into the world of short-form poetry and a deviation from my more popular writings on high strangeness. It contains thoughts and musings on life, love, and the great beyond. In addition to writing the content and designing the layout, I developed a new publishing label, Haunted Owl Press.
Challenge: I self-published this book to connect with my other audience—one that supports my creative pursuits but may be hesitant to follow my “scarier” content. (Although it was much scarier to put this work out there as I did not know if it would resonate with my audience at all.)
Collaboration: I commissioned Jessica Choi, a talented illustrator from Singapore, to complement the entries and concepts. With my art direction, I encouraged her to try new techniques and explore different skill sets that she may not be as confident in. The result was a mutually beneficial project that allowed us to step out of our comfort zones and grow as artists.
